This is going to be one of those pictures that broadcasters 20 years from now will show when talking about the New England Patriots Dynasty of the early 2000’s. This will be the picture for when they are talking about the end of an era – just years before Brady (retired? was traded? won another 2 super bowls and went out on top?). A true candid shot of two masterminds at work.
On one side you have Tom Brady; casual, bearded, football in hand and legs wrapped and padded like a racehorse, talking with Robert Kraft; old but well, wearing a luxury suit with a pocket square and fresh Patriots colored Nike sneakers. Both have money and power, both are leaders in their profession. But only one really worries me.
I never want to see Tom Brady in another uniform. Yet, as we’ve seen happen with players like Richard Seymour and now Logan Mankins – Kraft isn’t afraid to cut bait on any player. What scares me is that I believe not even Tom Brady is safe when it comes to Kraft saving salary cap dollars and real dollars.
No one knows exactly when these two will part ways or how it will happen, but for now, I’m just happy to see them together as part of this franchise.
